When you contact our ready mix order board, be prepared to give the dispatcher the following information:

• Contact information. Give us your name and phone numbers – both home and mobile numbers.
• The day and time you need the concrete . It is best to place your concrete order 2-3 days ahead of time, since delivery schedules fill quickly.
• How much concrete you need. To determine the amount of concrete you need, use our concrete calculator. Or give your dimensions to our dispatcher, who will be able to do the calculations for you. Remember to make a 10% allowance for uneven subgrade, spillage, etc. and round up to the closest ¼ yard. Order no more concrete than you can place and finish in three hours. You can always have additional deliveries. If you have had no experience in placing and finishing concrete slabs, order no more than about 3 cubic yards of concrete at one time. You will need the help of at least one other person; for large slabs, it is best to have at least two people helping you.
• What you are pouring. Prairie's experienced dispatchers will be able to help you choose the right concrete mix and slump (a measure of consistency or stiffness) for the project you are pouring. If local ordinances or codes require specific qualities, be sure to let the dispatcher know.
• Where you are pouring. Give us the jobsite address including zip code. Give us clear directions to the site including the nearest major street. Concrete is extremely heavy. Make sure that you know where the truck will be able to set up and try to be sure it does not have to leave the roadway. If you can not easily pour directly from the truck, you will need to wheelbarrow the concrete. Be sure to have construction size wheelbarrows ready. You should try to have 3 or 4 going at once.
• Will call or firm order. Will call orders means we reserve a time for your delivery, but you must confirm the order two hours before the scheduled delivery time. A firm order means the truck will show up at the specified time unless you call to cancel the order. If you need to cancel the pour, you need to let us know at least one hour before the scheduled delivery time.
• Payment . We accept cash, credit card or checks and payment is expected at the time of delivery.
