Professional Associations for Students
There are a number of professional organizations in the construction industry with helpful student chapters.

American Institute of Architecture (AIAS) has a very robust national student organization.

American Concrete Institute (ACI International) is a national concrete organization that has a very good student organization. Their website contains competition announcements, a list of available scholarships, and a listing of student chapters in the Americas.

American Society of Construction Engineers (ASCE) has some good resources for students.

National Association of Industrial Technology has some student chapters and contest and scholarship announcements.

Portland Cement Association (PCA) has a nice listing of other associations in the cement and concrete industry. These associations do not have a student focus, but the listing should give you an idea of the breadth of the industry.

Construction Technology Laboratories, Inc . solves a broad spectrum of engineering and scientific problems for construction, transportation, minerals, and related industries. A good resource for seeing how the labs work in the real world to solve problems. Look at the Projects section.

Architectural Record magazine has many articles about the design and building of new structures.

Concrete Construction magazine is a monthly publication of the World of Concrete annual exposition. It has some interesting articles on various aspects of concrete.

Concrete Products magazine is a monthly source of news on the concrete industry.

World Center for Concrete Technology at Alpena Community College offers a 2-year Associates in Applied Science Degree in Concrete Technology. Acts as center for training, educational research and conferences for the concrete products industries.

Concrete Construction Resource Unit of SIU
